Just as a starter, the focus of this blog is how the team is pushing to make the post-season and make a run at the Stanley Cup every season. To keep the numbers in check regarding the team's odds of a playoff berth, I will frequently be referring to the Sabres page on Sports Club Stats. This website "sheds light" on a team's odds of making the post-season, how today's games impact those odds, and how well they need to finish the season to have a shot at the post-season. It covers a wide range of sports but our focus will be on the Buffalo Sabres. As of this posting before tonight's games, the Sabres have a 40.9% chance of making the post-season this year. A huge game tonight at Florida as well as Carolina and Montreal being in action makes tonight an interesting night to affect the odds.
